Makoii Apothecary is a micro-batch, plant-based apothecary that handcrafts botanical distillates, skincare formulations, oils, teas, and natural colours, using herbs that are either cultivated or ethically foraged from the high-altitude terrains of Ladakh. Guided by seasonal rhythms and traditional practices, Makoii’s work celebrates the intimate relationship between land, plant, and wellbeing.

The flagship store translates this philosophy into spatial form, creating a serene and grounded environment that invites visitors to slow down, reconnect, and engage deeply with the natural world.

Designed and built in 2025, the Makoii Apothecary Flagship Store is conceived as a tactile and immersive retail environment, rooted in material honesty and local craft. Lime-plastered walls create a soft, breathable backdrop, allowing light and shadow to animate the space through the day.

Underfoot, a mustard-hued terrazzo floor anchors the store, embedded with hand-picked stones collected from the Chiling riverbed, each fragment carrying traces of landscape, memory, and place.

All furniture is bespoke and handcrafted from local elm wood, interpreted through a contemporary Tibetan lens. The result is a restrained yet deeply sensorial interior, where architecture, craft, and nature converge to create a calm and grounded spatial experience.
